The Alliance for Renewable Energy (ARE), a coalition of businesses, non-profits, energy experts, legislators and citizens, was launched on October 12th at a pre-event of the Solar Power International 2008 conference in San Diego, California. ARE’s mission is to promote Renewable Energy Payments (REPs), also known as Feed-in Tariffs, legislation in states and provinces throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Harrisburg might be years away from being a source of alternative energy, but a small step taken by the city’s planning and zoning commission will help the community be ready if it happens.
The final scoping report for the Genesis Eco-Energy 15MW wind energy facility has been submitted to the economic development and environmental affairs department.
Rhode Island Governor Donald Carcieri announced last week that Deepwater Wind was chosen as the developer to construct a wind energy project off the shores of Rhode Island that could provide 1.3 million megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity per year, 15 percent of all electricity used in the state. It is expected that the project will cost more than US $1 billion to construct, with all the capital coming from private investment sources.
